Wimbledon & Shakespeare

Tuesday...
(billy, brian, erin, & jeff (friend of brian's in london with his dad who's teaching a summer session course in london for 5 weeks))
So I'm in London. Not only am i in London, but i am in London while the most prestigious tennis tournament in the world is taking place. So we decide, we must go and be a part of this. We stopped by the Sainsbury market to pick up food and drinks for lunch. We got tube tics for Wimbledon @ Victoria station and get to the Wimbledon about 10 o'clock a.m. When you step off the tube at the Wimbledon station, the ground you step onto is green turf marked off like a tennis court. It was so cool. To get tickets the day of, we must Queue Up. Sometimes this means standing in line for 2 or 3 hours. Fortunately we were able to get tics in about 35 minutes. While queueing in line we were given all kinds of free stuff by sponsors for Wimbledon. (Packs of sunscreen, visors, drinks, ect.) Wimbledon is absolutely beautiful. Many men wear suits and women wear dresses for the event. Wimbledon features 19 courts including Centre Court, where the best matches are played. We were able to see Mauresmo's match first, then Serena Williams v/s Tatiana Golovin. Lastly, we watched the Sharapova v/s Ai Sugiyama match. We got more than enough sun at the match but it was so much fun.
For our night, I requested we go see a play at the Shakespeare's Globe Theatre. This globe was constructed near the same spot of the original Shakespeare Globe after it burned down in 1613. The Globe is uncovered which is so cool because we watched the sun set and ended up watching most of the play under the stars. This summer features 3 different plays as a part of The globe's "Season of Star-Crossed Lovers." The three plays are Romeo and Juliet, Much Ado about Nothing, and Measure for Measure. Much Ado about Nothing was the play featured this night @ 7:30 . It was an incredible performance. Each character was played by a women which was interesting. The play was 3 hours with an intermission. We got standing room only tickets (we were referred to as "groundlings" just like in shakespeare's days). The globe features 3 balconys and a standing room only pit. I talked to a couple from London for the longest time before the show and at intermission. They were so interested in my trip to Kenya.
Afterwards, on our way back to our hostal we decided to walk through a few areas of London to see them at night- .
