Terrace & Derby

Having been in charleston less than a year, I am always stumbling over something new. This weekend i found the most amazing theater. It is a small theater called The Terrace Theater. It shows only foreign and independent films. Growing up in a small town, you never expect anything like this, so it is that much more amazing to actually be a part of it. I went to a film titled, "thank you for smoking". it was the only film showing that i had heard of, and it was absolutely hillarious. foreign/independent films are hit or miss most of the time, so it was nice to go to this new place and watch an enjoyable film. and here's the most exciting part. the theater features a concessions bar just like any other theater, but the terrace is also licenced to sell alcohol. so you can watch a film along with a Newcastel or a glass of cabernet. i mean how many times do you go to see a movie and tell yourself, man i could sure use a glass of merlot to take off this edge? just me? oh well, ok. well it is an interesting concept none the less.

Saturday afternoon featured the 132nd Kentucky Derby. I was having lunch with a friend on Daniel Island at Soda Water Grill Saturday when we noted that so many woman were wearing bright dresses and obnoxious hats. and the men in seersucker. we later found out that the family circle cup was featuring a showing of the derby on large projection screens, along with tailgating festivities including food and drinks. I think tickets were being sold for about $25 and if we had of been dressed appropriately i would have loved to have gone. maybe next year. i love absolutely horse races (well atleast the big 3) and i did win $40 by puttin $5 on Barboro. This is not good for my gambling habit. now all i can think about is the Preakness and the Belmont Stakes.
